Today started with registering for VMworld, the 10 minute walk from the apartment seems to be quiet reasonable on the feet although I’ll update you on how it feels on the last day… I checked in and was able to get a first look at the VMworld backpack, which seems to be an improvement on previous years.
Then on to #vBreakfast at Mel’s diner, although I a bit early arriving, it was great to catchup with @coolsport00 and also really good to meet @herseyc and todd, these kind of community get togethers are what make VMworld fantasic.
I then headed over to the Solutions Exchange and met up with @codyhosterman and helped with prepping the solution stands on the Pure Storage booth #1621, it was great to catchup with Cody and help with the booth prep, there’s some great demos on the booth this year!
It was then #vDimSum time, hopefully this will be a new tradition for #VMworld, @hui_kenneth ask a group of us to meet up at the Lai Hong Lounge to taste some of the SFO Dim Sum delights. Again a great chance to meet up with some great people that make up this event and talk about the coming events this week.
I then met up with @vcdx133 for coffee and had the chance to talk about VCDX submission (my favourite topic), Rene help provided some mentoring during my submission while at the same time submitting his VCDX-NV.
Then it was on to VMunderground ‘Opening Acts‘ to hear my fellow industry experts talk about Storage, Infrastructure, Networking, Automation, Data Protection and Careers via panel discussions. Lots of people in attendance who are part of this community, there was some great debates during these panel discussions, I found the Infrastructure and Careers debates especially of interest, look out for the recordings of these sessions as I think you’ll find them of interest.
I then headed over to the Welcome Reception at the VMworld Solutions Exchange where I had a few hours on the booth at our genius bar (PureIQ), it was great to hang out with the rest of the Pure team.
Next up I scored a VIP pass for what I believe to be one of the highlights of the VMworld festivities – VMUnderground, this meant I could get in early and have a chance to meet some great peole that make up the community. What a great way to finish off a Sunday night and a VMworld weekend. I’m really looking forward to hearing the VMware announcements tomorrow!
